Good Old Country Livin'

Nothing makes me more crazy as a mom than stained clothes.  Well, almost nothing-but stained clothes are right up there.

So the following is a pretty good representation of what my children look like after a nice somewhat sunny spring day in Idaho. 

 F-I-L-T-H-Y.

And as much as it makes me crazy-I am glad to know that they have been outside running around in our yard with no grass rather than rotting in front of the television set. 

The most infuriating thing about the pictures though?  The hole in Landon's BRAND NEW SHIRT-literally that I just bought him over the weekend.  He's worn it all of once.  Scott said Landon was climbing on his ramp (that he loads his dirt bike into his truck with) and he started to fall.  Scott made a last minute save and it was the shirt or Landon's head hitting the concrete.  As glad as I am it wasn't Landon-I can still be a little angry about the hole in the shirt.....right?!  And obviously, Landon could really care less!

And Pacie-well, I just love that every time we get an ice cream cone-she ends up looking like this.  Funny girl.

10 4 T- Comings and Goings

This past weekend was pretty busy.  We had tickets to go to the Supercross in Salt Lake.  And this year, to make it even more special, Scott's nephew, Landen qualified to ride in the night show!  This is a huge accomplishment for someone his age (17) and it was really fun to go and watch him along with the other riders.

Highlights were:

1.  Standing in line for 30 minutes to buy two churros.  (That cost $3.00 each no less.)

2.  Spending a little alone time with Scott.  We had a babysitter so we were kind of alone.

3.  Spending time with Robbie and Christy.  We got to go to dinner on Friday night and then all hung out on Saturday night too.  Super fun.

4.  Rode Trax for the first time.  (not super exciting, but somewhat noteworthy)

Tyler is now an avid Supercross fan too!  He braved the weather to be there with us.

Despite the freezing cold and wet weather, we had such a fun time. And it was an exciting race-down to the final few laps.

5.  Earlier in the day we went shopping and to lunch with Grandma Taft.  This is Presley not 2 minutes after we left Old Navy.  Sucker and all in her mouth, she was done!

Other noteworthy happenings:

6.  One day I was stuck without a babysitter during preschool.  My friends Eliza and Jason came to the rescue. They came and picked up Landon and Presley and took them for the morning.  They took them to the river to feed the ducks and took them to a little park.  Jason truly has the magic touch with Presley.  Whenever he comes to church, he takes her and she usually falls right to sleep on his shoulder. 

7.   They are the cutest couple and will make the best parents  in a few months time.  They took some darling pics of the kids that day-so here they are!

And lastly, my favorite not blogged about pictures have to be these.

8.  I walked in my room one day to find Landon and Presley diaper box fighting. They each had a diaper box on their head and they were peeking out of the handle hole.  They would count to three and then ram into each other at full speed, falling down and laughing.  Then they would get up and start it all over again.  

9.  I didn't really get them in action, but if you look closely, you can see little blue eyes peeking out of the boxes.

Simple Joy

Today my girls wore their capri's and flip flops to school.

You'd have thought they just won their favorite game.

You'd have thought they found out they got to pick out their own toy at Toys R Us.

You'd have thought they had just gotten their favorite ice cream cone at Reed's Dairy.

You'd have thought they found out they got to have a play date with a friend.

You'd have thought they got to go see their favorite movie at the theater.

No, the sun in just shining in Idaho today.

And what greater joy is there than sunshine after an Idaho winter?

Our (well, my) new toy!

I am so excited to announce that we got a new computer.

Yes, I know.  It doesn't seem like a big deal. But to me, it is!

Our old computer was a dinosaur-a hand me down from Scott's dad.  Yes it got the job done.  

S-L-O-W-L-Y.

So, I guess Scott had heard enough of my complaining and we went and picked out a new one-the first we've bought together.  We got married almost 9 years ago.  I'd say it was about time.

And as you can see, we did get a Mac.  So far, I'm loving it!  It is very different from a PC, but we're learning quickly.  Well, not the kids...they're not allowed to touch it!!

Thanks Scott, for making me happy!  Just think how much more multi-tasking I can do now that my computer can keep up with me!!

Easter Weekend- A little late!

Ever heard the Britney Spears song Circus?  That's what I feel like my life is like these days.  Honestly.  I never slow down-always on the go, never caught up...but that's a post for another day.  This circus like activity is why my post on Easter weekend is so late.

I was SO HAPPY to have Mitch, Sarah and Ari come for Easter weekend. They moved to Vegas last April so that Mitch could start attending UNLV, and start a new job.  We got to see them on the 4th of July-and haven't seen them since.  We really have missed them.  My kids were just so thrilled to see Ari-and she warmed right up to them too.  They played and played in our basement, and I was so happy to have them here!  The first night, Ari wanted to lay down with Landon. They were so cute.  Of course they didn't ever go to sleep and it was a lot more giggling than resting.  But they started right where they left off.  

Then the next day, Rachel and her girls joined the party!  I love this picture.  And again, can I just say, Poor Landon!!!

All of the adults were able to get a baby sitter on Thursday night and go out to eat at the Snakebite. Yes, it's our favorite place to eat!  It was great to be all together.

The next few days were just the kids playing themselves silly, the guys going golfing, the girls doing a little shopping and basically just having fun.

Saturday morning we went to an egg hunt in Ucon that was great last year!  Let's just say the highlight of our morning wasn't finding (or scrapping against other mother's for) eggs, but the slide and teeter totter and merry-go-round at the school.

Back to Mamie and Gramps' house for their own egg hunt (where the kids actually got to pick up more than one egg- or zero eggs in some cases...) and a fishing pond to score their prizes.  Everyone had a blast and loved their prizes.  Thanks, Mamie and Gramps for making it so much fun for the kids.

No, this marathon post isn't over, just yet.  Time for our own Easter morning pics. 

We dyed eggs on Saturday afternoon and the kids had a ball as usual.  Landon had spilled the blue dye before we even got started...as usual.  But it was a hit.

The girls woke up super early to see their spoils.  Such tired faces.  And I'm not sure what's with the modeling pic-Pacie's doing the chicken dance or something!

Sunday morning, the kids put on their new Easter clothes to remind them that at the resurrection we will all become new again.  They all looked so nice.  

Really quick funny story:  Last father's day the primary made all of the dads and grandpas in the ward a white tie that they decorated with fabric markers.  Parker really wanted Scott to wear his on Sunday, but he had already put a different one on.  (Well, two actually-I vetoed the first)  So we were in the bathroom getting ready and all of the sudden, we see the white tie sliding under our bathroom door just a little at a time.  Scott couldn't resist and he wore it for her.

Our Sunday was really nice.  Aside from saying goodbye to Mitch, Sarah and Ari.  Church was wonderful and I loved teaching my 7 year olds about the true meaning of Easter.  

We came home and Scott cooked some steaks that were so good.  We just spent time together with our little family and enjoyed each other.

Such fun memories and such a wonderful time to remember why we celebrate.  I am so thankful for the knowledge we have of the resurrection of the Savior.  I know we will live again someday thanks to Him.
