Ragnar-Philin' Groovy!

When my sister called a year ago to ask if I would be up for running Ragnar this year, it sounded like a really good idea! As it crept closer and closer, I realized that while it the idea still sounded good, the reality was something very different. I was nervous-to say the least!! Really, running from Logan to Park City? But-having done my half marathon last summer, I thought, if I could do that, I can do this. And I did. 19.4 miles over 36 hours.

Would I do it again?
In a HEARTBEAT.

Our sponsor was Phil from the Cache Valley pharmacy. We wanted to come up with a clever name for our team. After much deliberation and many vetoed options, we came up with "Philin' Groovy..thanks to Cache Valley Pharmacy". Our theme was all about peace and love, baby! Lots of peace signs, tie dye, and everything flowers and love. What an amazing journey we had.

The van consisted of myself, Rachel, Tyler, Ashley, my Dad and our friend, Jenny. We laughed, I cried...and we all (as Presley would say) "ran our guts out."

Thanks to my family for supporting me-Scott holding down the fort while I was away. My sisters, brother, dad and friend truly made it an unforgettable experience. And I really hope I get to do it again. Even if I keep losing my toenails....seriously. WHY?

Our van was the cutest!
So early-such a morning face!
I Heart my Daddy!
Twila, Stan, Rach, and myself-just before my first leg
6.8 miles
Happy to be handing off to Tyler!!
Me and Ashley
My dad's first leg was a KILLER.  8 miles uphill on a dirt road.
He was AMAZING.
Tyler hopped out to join him for his last mile or so...
Beautiful View at the top of Avon Pass.  So happy to be done!
Resting at our first exchanges...clif bars, coconut water and great harvest....

Getting ready to start my second leg..in my lovely "night gear".
4.8 miles

This sign was such a relief!!  We were always so happy to see it!
My cute sis and Dad.  (Rach ran 21+ miles...she is a rock star.)
Sisters..so grateful she's mine!
Waiting for Tyler to give him a cheer-and the Can-Can!
He was so happy to be finishing up this leg!!  6.something...he did great!
Sweet!!  One mile left!
My hardest leg...7.8 over a pass.  Steep uphill...and I felt every step!  It was pretty amazing to come to that exchange...Tyler was waiting and I was a crying mess.  :)

Aw yeah!!

Peace Out last mile!!

Our amazing team with our medals.  Yee-Haw!
Handsome men...love them both!

Peace, Love and Ragnar!!

Preschool Graduation, 2012

This preschool graduation was pretty bittersweet for me. I taught Presley for two years...a super senior if you will. :) I had a hard time when I realized that I wouldn't be her teacher anymore after this year. We had so many fun times-and so many hard times. (If you know Presley, you may know she is extremely stubborn...and strong willed...which I hope I will somehow be able to harness in the right direction!) It was a great night with my little friends. And with Presley. She sang her little heart out and did a wonderful job. Now a little break before I start another year all over again.

With her sweet daddy who loves her to pieces!
Kisses!
All Dolled up!
What a little beauty!
Before it started...all business and probably some nerves involved too!
Presley isn't the best public speaker...but she promised me she'd lead the pledge.
she didn't come through...but at least she held the flag!
I love this picture-so embarrassed!

Receiving a hug and bubbles from mom.
Best Little Friends (with chocolate chips in their teeth.)

Love my little graduate!!
And my baby-not such a baby anymore!  :)  Love my little Pipes.

So behind...

I am one of those people.  The ones who haven't updated their blog for months.  It's not like me...usually I'm pretty on top of it.  Not this time!
This upcoming week is a doozy.  (I won't even start on the last month..out of town dance competitions four weekends in a row)
In the next ten days I have:
6 sessions of preschool, (two being field trips), regular dance day, piano, 2 dress rehearsals, 3 dance recitals, oh wait-make that 4...one on Monday night too and preschool graduation.   Not to mention regular life.  It's going to be fun!
So-here's hoping I'll be able to catch up on our life soon.  In the meantime..here's a pic-because let's face it.  A post without a picture isn't very much fun at all.  Piper pretty much sums up how I'm feeling this week.  Plus-everyone does love a blue eyed girl....

Just DANCE...

In scrolling through some previously un-blogged pictures, I came across this set today.  These were taken at the beginning of December at the kids' winter recital.  This year, four of our five kids are dancing. Even Landon...he's doing a boys Hip Hop/tumbling class taught by Ashley and he LOVES it. Of course, I wasn't organized enough to get a picture of everyone in their costumes, but at least I got one of all of the four dancers together. As you can see, it took a few tries...(still not a PERFECT one...but that doesn't happen very often anyway.....)

Parker and Landon.  Landon's dance was "hard knock life" which is why he has a dirty face.
Presley gets so shy!  This is her "I'm really trying NOT to smile face..."
Then" I'll just look away...maybe if I'm not looking I can smile..."
Oh good, she's finally looking!  Oh what?  Pacie closed her eyes?  Sigh.  Like i said.  No such thing as a "perfect" picture!
Landon had an 8 count of free-style in his dance.  Here are a couple of his moves.  The worm in action..
and again...wormin' it up.
The classic "sprinkler".
Not to be outdone, Piper jumped into the picture.  Rosy little cheeks are her signature trademark.
I love Infinity!  It has instilled such a wonderful work ethic and confidence in my older girls.  This is Presley's second year dancing and she loves it as well.  I am sure Piper will join the ranks next fall, when she's 3.  (Yikes!)  Competition season is just around the corner.  All of the hard work comes to fruition then!  We absolutely LOVE watching our kids on stage.  And as Parker and Pacie are maturing into older, more accomplished dancers, I can say there are moments where they literally take our breath away.  It is something amazing as a parent to watch your children find and develop their talents.  Somehow dance seems to be something that they are all skilled (and interested) in.  So, dance on kids.  We'll keep watching and supporting and loving you through it all.
